Bathroom: Before & After

With its blue walls (which I love) and wood trim (which I hated), our bathroom had a sort of "nautical" feel, in my opinion.

Three years after moving in... I finally got around to painting and redoing things!

Before:

In Progress:

My "simple project" started by getting a handyman to replace the medicine cabinet. One problem: our old cabinet was one inch taller and two inches narrower than standard. The hole in the wall into which the cabinet is set was made wider, and shims were added at the top and bottom of the opening to allow for the shorter cabinet. When we pulled the old cabinet out of the wall, we discovered a hole that was open to the closet on the other side.

With the cabinet taken care of, I spackled nail holes and taped off and painted all the previously wooden trim.

In the end, all the trim and cabinetry that had been plain wood was painted white, and the wooden hardware (towel bar, toilet paper holder, etc.) was replaced with chrome hardware.
